The single row or multi-row cylindrical roller bearings are manufactured in full complement design or with cages. They consist of machined outer and inner rings with cylindrical rollers or cylindrical roller and cage assemblies. Cylindrical roller bearings have high rigidity and high radial load carrying capacity. Due to the cage, they can also achieve higher speeds compared to full complement designs. Cylindrical roller bearings without outer ring allow a very compact planet gear bearing arrangement with high load carrying capacity. In this design, the rolling elements run directly in the bore of the planet gear. The bearings can be axially located in the planet by means of thrust washers and a retaining ring.
